London 'goes green' for WTM

Tourism organisation Visit London has announced that it will be promoting the capital's green credentials at the 2007 World Travel Market (WTM).

The group will be exhibiting in the London Pavilion and its stand will be produced with sustainable materials and use low-energy light fittings, reflecting Visit London's "ongoing commitment" to the environment.

Another feature of the exhibition stand will be a static bike and a screen, designed to give visitors the impression they are cycling around some of London's green open spaces, which reportedly comprise a third of the city's surface area.

James Bidwell, chief executive of Visit London, said: "London aims to lead the way in becoming a sustainable world city. Visit London is working with the industry to reduce the carbon footprint of London's visitor economy.

"World Travel Market is one of London's most important trade events. We will be using our presence at the show to promote the capital's sustainable tourism product and highlight the work that Visit London is doing in this area."

The 2007 World Travel Market will take place at London's ExCel centre from November 12th to 15th.
