Norwegian sees passenger boost in September

Norwegia carried some 610,460 passengers in September, compared to 492,258 in the same month of last year, it has announced.

This is an increase of 118,202 customers, or 24 per cent, over a 12-month period.

Total capacity on Norwegian flights increased by 20 per cent over the year, while cabin load factor stood at 84 per cent in September, an increase of four per cent on the previous year.

The airline said that the positive changes it has experienced in the past year are attributable to a combination of business factors.

"The increase in passenger traffic, production and passengers is related to the company's expansion in well established markets and to the introduction of new routes from October 2006 to September 2007, as well as adjustments in production capacity and a steady increase in passengers," Norwegian said in a statement.

The carrier's operation in Poland was one of the factors in its success last month, with load factor figures improving on last year.
