KLM to serve Panama
A new KLM Royal Dutch Airlines service from Amsterdam to Panama City will be available from summer 2008, the carrier has announced.
Direct flights will run three times a week from March 30th, leaving the Dutch capital's Schiphol airport to arrive in Tocumen airport in Panama.
The central American location is KLM's 62nd intercontinental destination and is part of the Air France KLM group's effort to consolidate its position in the Latin American market.
Numerous connections will be available at either end of the route, the operator said, provided by KLM itself from Amsterdam and Copa Airlines, part of the SkyTeam alliance, from Panama City.
Tocumen airport is becoming an increasingly important hub in central America, with over 60 regional flights passing through every day.
Panama is home to the region's fastest growing economy, with heavy investment in public and private sectors giving rise to projects such as the expansion of the Panama Canal.
