Emirates claims to have made history by flying directly from Dubai to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The flight took off from Dubai international airport en route to Sao Paulo on October 1st using a Boeing 777-200 long-range aircraft.

Brazil becomes the 60th country in Emirates' route network and Sao Paulo its 94th destination.

"Our services provide a perfect match for businesspeople and leisure travellers from the whole Middle East region, Africa, Far East and Australia seeking a convenient route to South America."

Passengers from over 12 countries, including Japan, South Korea, India and Australia, used the flight after connecting through Dubai from other Emirates services.
