Lufthansa doubles Newcastle-Dusseldorf services

German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will double the number of flights it offers between Newcastle and Dusseldorf from November.

Two flights will now operate every weekday from November 5th and one service will depart on each weekend day.

Lufthansa claims that the enhanced connection will improve onward links to European destinations not currently served from Newcastle, making more available and also increasing the speed at which they are served.

The destinations that passengers from the north-east hub will have better access to include Budapest, Bucharest, Marseille, Milan and Vienna.

Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa general manager for the UK, said: "Lufthansa's passengers from across the north-east of England will benefit enormously from the new flights.

"The new morning flight will leave Newcastle at 09.40 arriving in Dusseldorf just after midday, freeing up the afternoon for either business meetings or sightseeing for visitors to the city."
