KLM focuses on long-haul

The Air France KLM group has unveiled its winter schedule for 2007-08 and said that its main focus for the season will be boosting its long-haul capacity.

KLM intends to carry more passengers to destinations in the Gulf and cooperate with Northwest Airlines on transatlantic routes, while Air France will focus on growth in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

London City airport will see an increased frequency of Air France flights to north Africa as the carrier looks to strengthen its position at the English hub.

The forthcoming season will see a 5.2 per cent increase in overall capacity for the group, with a 6.2 per cent expansion in the long-haul network and 1.8 per cent growth in short and medium-haul routes.

In order to offer the best service to customers, the group claims that Air France and KLM will strengthen the complementary nature of their combined networks in the winter season.

February 2008 will see KLM welcome its first Boeing 777-300ER, which will be used to operate flights to Sao Paulo and Dubai.
