BA to focus on US in 2008
British Airways has said that its summer 2008 route network will focus on increased US flights from Heathrow.
This will follow the commencement of the EU-US Open Skies treaty, which comes into effect in March next year.
BA will move its daily flight to Dallas Fort Worth and twice-daily services to Houston from Gatwick to Heathrow on March 30th.
Flight frequency from Heathrow to New York JFK, Seattle and Washington will also be increased but, to accommodate these changes, services from Heathrow to Detroit will be suspended from the end of March.
Robert Boyle, the airline's commercial director, said: "We're taking advantage of the opportunities provided by Open Skies to further enhance our market leading network from London to the United States.
"Next summer, we will offer our customers 41 daily flights to 18 destinations across the US."
Other changes for BA next year include the movement of flights to Algiers from Gatwick to Heathrow and a new short-haul route from Gatwick to Genoa.
