Norwegian opens Stavanger route

Scandinavia's largest low-fares airline, Norwegian, has announced a new route between London Gatwick and the city of Stavanger.

The service will begin on November 2nd and will initially be operated on a four flights per week basis.

Stavanger, a city on the south-eastern tip of Norway, will be the airline's sixth destination from London.

Daniel Skjeldam, director of network and revenue at Norwegian, said the carrier was happy to add Stavanger to its routes from London and predicted that the service will be a success.

"Stavanger has a lot to offer the visitors, including a beautiful old harbour with restaurants and cafes and many inner-city lakes which are popular recreational areas," he added.

"Stavanger is only a short boat trip away from Norway's most famous fjords and coastal scenery."

Mr Skjeldam explained that the location could also be of interest to business travellers, as it is the oil capital of Norway and home to many international companies.
