Service improved to 'world's wine capital'

Lufthansa has announced a new service between Frankfurt and the wine-making city of Bordeaux.

German airline Lufthansa is launching a new service from its hub in Frankfurt to Bordeaux, the city described as the "world's wine capital".

Three flights will depart every day from October 28th as part of the airline's winter timetable and will be available all year round.

Bordeaux is one of seven destinations in France, along with Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Mulhouse, Nice and Toulouse, served by Lufthansa.

Thierry Antinori, executive vice-president of marketing and sales at Lufthansa, said: "With 523 connections a week between Germany and France, Lufthansa offers more flights between these two major European economic nations than any other airline."

Bordeaux, situated on the western coast of France, is one of the country's growing tourist regions, with many travellers coming to enjoy the Aquitaine region that surrounds the city.

It is a haven for wine-lovers, with around 117,000 hectares of vineyards and 9,000 wine-producing chateaux.
