Florida a good choice for long-term

People looking for a long-term property investment should take a good look at the Floridian market - as its strong, family-orientated, infrastructure could make it the ideal location for such a purchase.

This is the opinion of Paul McMullen, sales manager at Escapes2, who also points out that buyers could cover the entire year-round costs of their property by renting it out for as little as between ten to 15 weeks a year.

"When renting property in Florida you can expect to see returns of £400 to £600 a week. If you're just renting it for ten to 15 weeks a year that will cover all your costs," he explained.

"Florida is a good long term investment. It's not a get rich quick, buy it now, and sell it next year kind of place. It's a stable country and climate - it's a family friendly destination with lots of theme parks and things to do with the kids."

The current strength of the pound against the dollar - and the high level of repossessions currently taking place in holiday states such as Florida at the moment - should make now the ideal time to invest in one of the US's most popular regions, he adds.

"It is important to make sure you go out there and have a look at a few resorts, because if you want to rent it out then location is everything," Mr McMullen concluded.
