Wag holiday advice revealed

The wives and girlfriends (Wags) of Premiership footballers know a thing or two about holidaying and now Jermain Defoe's fiancee, Charlotte Meares, has teamed up with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to share her Wag holiday tips with the world.

As Ms Meares says: "It is amazing how many things can go wrong when you are travelling. So I wanted to share my top tips for a hassle-free trip."

She adds that one of the best things holidaymakers can do while away is to "go native". Ms Meares continues, explaining: "If you research your destination in a guide book or on the web before you go, then you arrive knowing all the best places and where you should (and shouldn't) be seen.

"Another Wag technique for looking cool and 'in the know' is to arrive at your destination wearing something the locals would but with a unique twist - think Henna'd hands in India."

However, the soon-to-be Ms Defoe also adds some practical tips for Brits heading on holiday. This includes making sure travellers take all the appropriate documentation and have copies stored somewhere safe at home.

Other surprisingly prudent tips include taking out comprehensive travel insurance and making sure holidaymakers stay well hydrated in the heat.

Recently, another famed Wag, Coleen McLoughlin, was spotted holidaying on the party island of Ibiza.
