Stag and hen parties 'get adventurous'
The proliferation of cheap flights has encouraged people planning stag and hen parties to consider some more unusual eastern European destinations for their celebrations, an industry expert has said.
Indeed, John Bevan, the UK managing director of lastminute.com, explained that cheap flights had bough about a total change in the way people thought about stag and hen parties.
They are no longer seen as just about "that last night of freedom", instead people see them as a chance to spend time with friends and visit some more far-flung cities.
Mr Bevan explained: "Whilst Edinburgh and Dublin still remain firm favourites, the increase in routes by budget airlines means people are heading to Barcelona, Amsterdam, Prague and even further afield to cities in eastern Europe."
Confetti's PR manager, Carol Richardson, agreed with Mr Bevan, adding that the 'British Riviera' was also a popular choice for stag and hen parties.
However she said that longer flight times meant that the US was unlikely to become a popular choice, even as more budget airlines set up transatlantic routes.
As more people opt for short breaks with an adventurous edge to them, Mr Bevan said it was becoming increasingly important for holidaymakers to remember to take out holiday insurance - even if the trip was only for a few days.
