Stansted 'embracing technology'
Stansted airport has claimed that it has shown its willingness to embrace technology and innovation at its annual transport forum.
Stansted airport held its annual transport forum last week, an event which it claimed was demonstrative of its forward-thinking attitude.
The event, which brought together more than 100 experts in their fields, focused on the ways in which the transport industry can improve through technology and use new innovations to provide solutions for future problems.
Among the speakers at the forum were representatives from the Department for Transport, One Railway and the Institute of Highways and Transportation.
Stewart Wingate, Stansted managing director, said the influence of technology can be seen in many areas of the airport, including its airport parking facilities.
"The future of the airport presents many challenges from many different angles from the sustainability agenda to the future growth agenda," he commented. "What is clear is that technology and innovation have a key role to play in everything we deliver.
"The solar lighting of our road signs and bus stops, the real time information in the short stay car park and the state-of-the-art material that was used on the roof of our bus and coach station are just some examples of how we are embracing technology to gain many benefits."
