Passenger numbers continue to rise at EMA
Nottingham East Midlands airport has released figures showing a continued rise in passengers in October.
Nottingham East Midlands airport (EMA) has announced that its passenger numbers climbed for the ninth consecutive month in October.
The airport handled a total of 475,441 travellers last month, 6.2 per cent more than 12 months earlier.
For the whole of the year up to October, EMA saw more than 4.66 million fliers pass in and out of its doors, compared to 4.08 million in the same period of 2006.
Dublin was the most popular flight destination from the East Midlands hub last month, while the island hotspot of Palma on Mallorca also continued to be in demand.
It has been a successful year for EMA, with a recent accolade received at the British Travel Awards its fifth honour of 2007.
Airport managing director Penny Coates said the awards "recognise the hard work and dedication of our great team".
