New ski holiday flights for Manchester airport

[October 23rd 2008]

Manchester airport is to get new ski holiday flights for the winter season from airline Swiss.

An additional Saturday and Sunday service will be added to the Manchester to Geneva route between December 14th 2008 and April 18th 2009. Fares start from £117 return and seats are now bookable on the airline’s website.

Flights depart from Manchester airport at 17.25 on Saturdays, and from Geneva at 14.35. On Sundays flights leave from Zurich at 07.55 and from Manchester at 10.45. An Avro RJ100 plane will be used to operate the flights.

“We are delighted to be offering this additional connection between the UK and Switzerland, which demonstrates our commitment to both tourism in the Lake Geneva area and to our customers in northern England, north Wales and Scotland,” comments Swiss country sales manager UK and Ireland, Gregor Koncilja.

“Leisure travellers looking for a ski holiday or extended city break can now escape conveniently and directly to Geneva, whilst enjoying the services of a top quality airline and the associated benefits of free baggage allowance, complimentary transportation of skis, food and beverage and, of course, Swiss hospitality from the moment they board the flight.

“We will also be offering a business class service for those who wish to travel out of Manchester in style and enjoy the benefits of our elegant business class lounge in Geneva,” Koncilja adds.

In addition to the free standard baggage allowance Swiss also has another tempting offer for anyone going on a snowboarding or skiing holiday. The airline will carry one pair of skis, one pair of ski poles and one pair of boots, or one snowboard and one pair of boots for free.

Swiss has also announced that from October 26th it will start operating its Manchester to Zurich flights using an Airbus A319. This will increase seat capacity by almost a quarter and provide larger seats for the comfort of passengers.

Passengers travelling from London City airport to Zurich will also be able to enjoy a choice of more flights. From October 26th Swiss will increase the frequency on its London City to Zurich flights from eight to nine a day.
