Chief executive of Ryanair, Michael O'Leary, is convinced that the upcoming results of the UK Competition Commission's investigation into BAA will pave the way for a £2 billion bid for the airport.
O'Leary believes that breaking up BAA will greatly improve competition and benefit airlines. He says that if Ryanair get their wishes they will increase passenger numbers from 24 million to 40 million, build a new runway and terminal and halve landing fees at Stansted.
